My!!! that was fiddly and took far longer than I like....

Spent about 2 hours this evening overcoming the difficulties of mounting the engines into the wings......

MEH!!!!!!!

must admit this did make it easier.... I am just not a fan of fiddly bits....
still now the first one is finished, hopefully it should go smoother with the other side......

anyways.... onwards and upwards.....

The Flying Brick takes shape!!!!

yep I have managed to keep up some semblance of momentum with the Blunderhawk project......

and I even took some pics to prove it!

So tonight I have managed to add the cockpit, and the raised piece at the rear, and shape the rear end.... along with some internal reinforcing to keep it all sturdy..... not a bad nights work.... considering I got a small skirmish of battletech in as well..... I even thought to include an easily recognisable miniature the last pic to give some idea of the scale of this thing.....

Any thoughts? suggestions? or comments are always appreciated.

Can ya guess what it is yet?

In an homage to the awesome mr Harris, I am just going to post a couple of pics of yet another on-going project, I'll let you decide what you think.....

its only in the early stages, and I included the engine modules I sourced for it... these came from a Revell Starwars kit my FLGS was kind enough to order in for me.

Hopefully progress will be made on this and other projects over the coming few days.

Its Progress Jim, but not very much......

Haven't got as much done as I might have liked, but here is my progress so far with my Battlemechs....

.

Three Ghostbears mechs well on their way to being painted in an arctic geometric camouflage pattern...
From left to right, they are a Kodiak (100tons) a Warhawk (85tons) and a Dire Wolf (100tons)
closest to finished is the Kodiak....

Let me know what you think.....

An(other) ongoing project.

Been a while since I have posted anything new..... unfortunately I have been indulging in fixing  my car.... because..... well..... I rather like having a car to drive.....

Anyways.... just a quick update for now... A couple of "before" pics showing this weekends intended victim for progress.....

My almost fully roster-ed Ghostbears Trinary for Classic Battletech.

and my barely started Mercenary reinforced Company, plan is to have 12 mechs total plus a lance or two of tank/helicopter support to give them approximate parity with the Trinary.

Hopefully I will have another post either later today or tomorrow........

I do not like Drop pods.

In a bit of a change from my usual reporting of my progress in building and painting.... I thought I would share my experiences in a game I had this afternoon......

This was the first outing for my Karandras themed Army, this army has happened gradually over several years based purely around Karandras as the central figure, mainly because I bought the miniature when it was first released for no reason other than I liked it.....

I was pitted against my friends Imperial fists on one of the tables at my FLGS
here are a few pics from early in the battle (becuase I got carried away and forgot to take any pics after about turn 2)
Incidently the sludge canal running down the centre of the board is one of my past projects.... built for the necromunda "Toll bridge" scenario.. the centre bridge is sized to be level with a level 1 building place on either bank and can be rotated as per the special conditions in that scenario.....

this is a general shot of the table at deployment, thats right.... he deployed a single dreadnought! thats all.

on my side of the table I deployed my Warwalker, my Storm Guardians, my Avatar, and my Howling Banshees squad to face his dreadnought on my left.

and on my right dug my Guardians squad with a brightlance heavy weaopn platrom into this ruined bunker....

and on the first turn he dropped this almost on top of me.... and proceeded to rapid fire into my unit.... we treated the terrain piece as a ruined bunker... 4+ cover save.... 4 of my guardians died....

at the beginning of my second turn my first unit of Striking scorpions arrived... after I had managed to kill a single marine with shooting from my guardians.... and then weathered the return fire during his second turn....

in his 3rd turn the rest of his pods arrived.... dumping a unit of sternguard and another full tactical squad in my face, he then added insult to injury by unloading rapid fire hellfire bolter rounds into my Howling banshees which had been running to reach the combat from my left flank.... and wiping them out.... in my third turn my Striking scorpians managed to charge one of his units of tactical marines... despite his stand and shoot reaction and the ensuing combat whiping out 3 of my scorps' we were then locked in combat....

in the mean time... my Avatar had spent pretty much the whole game chasing his dreadnought across the board trying to catch it.... I failed miserably to damage it with my ranged attack... then charged it.... at which point I discovered that only his ranged attack is considered "melta" and thus I was looking for sixes in order to glance.... which I didn't manage to pull off for the rest of the game.... Avatar was eventually killed in turn 6...

Karandras did make his appearance in turn 4 and showed his stuff during turns 5 and 6 as he and the accompanying squad of striking scorpians ripped through a tactiacl squad and then the sternguard..... before getting charged by the marine captain and killing each other off fist to claw in one combat........

and so my first foray with eldar ended in a nasty defeat with me having only a unit of storm guardians and a warwalker left..... (the warwalker spent the entire game failing to damage the drop pods....)

so there you have it.... my 4tk batrep....

any thoughts are as always much appreciated....

A Windmill and more (dis)organised Chaos

Just a small post today, since my real life is interfering terribly with my hobby time......

First up a current terrain project....

This modern windmill is going to be added to a base with a amall water tower and some pipework running from one to the other so the mill can fill it..... intended as a centre piece for games of ashwastes, I figure water is something of a comodity....

also I did manage to miss out a whole side of my shed when I showed off the chaos that is my Geek Cave... so here is the missing piece....

while I was out photgraphing I took a quick snapshot of one of my display case shelves... featuring most of my Marines, a few eldar, a random Hasslefree model and a small inquisitorial force I put together as an allied force.....

Painting..... And a quick conversion

After photographing my scouts yesterday, I got on and did a bit of painting on them....

Mostly basecoated so far in my homegrown chapter's colour scheme of a quartered dark and light green....

and This morning in preperation for a game I am hoping to play on Thursday this coming week at my FLGS, I did a bit of conversion work on this little fella.......

I always did prefer the Wailing Doom as a spear........ basically cut sword off his hand, then cut the quillon off the sword blade, and the pommel off his hand... then drilled through the hand and socket-ed the sword blade to the end of the brass rod, and turned the quillon around and pinned the pommel to it to form the counter-weight, then socket-ed that to the other end of the spear......

I think it works..... and is probably a lot straighter than if I invested in the Forgeworld one... lol
most likely with considerably less filling and filing required......

Yesterday I also put a little bit of work into this fine lil Lady:

So what do you think?

Even More bases! with a difference.......

This isn't really a new project..... You see some time ago I picked up one of those funny little Scout transport Landspeeders from my FLGS. and being a miserly sort, I decided I didn't want to leave the scout models attached to the Landspeeder, which of course would require me to have an extra 5 scout models to use for the disembarked troops.... so I built these 5 bases up, they are magnetised in such a way that once I disembark the troops from the transport they look like this:

this way I can has my cake and eat it......

Like a fool I don't have the 'Speeder at work with me.... so no pic of it....

But what do you think? I think they work pretty well......

as always comments are most welcome....
