More Walls, more bases, and a glimpse at my geek-cave.

Its been a couple of days since my last post..... but i have not been idle.... I have made the mold of the "techno" bases from the last post, and cast the first copies in resin:

I think they came out ok.....
and since I had some resin left over i cast up a couple of bases out of an old mold I have laying around.....

I figure a certain Piratical Badger might be able to find a home for these......

sticking with casting, I have also continued to work on the wall sections I mentioned in an earlier post and now have enough copies which aren't too naff that I can get stuck into painting them up.....
I'm still having some issue with air bubbles... but with so many undercuts in the molds I think that may be inevitable......

On a completely different topic, having given you a look at my "mobile" painting kit, I thought I would show off the chaos that is my non-mobile workspace....

The display case is supposed to house my various armies, gangs, eyc in some sort of order, however it has devolved into a chaotic mix of miniatures, tools, paints and model kits on most shelves....

so, I hope you enjoyed your glimpse at my progress for the last couple of days.....

Happy hobbying

Lil bit o'painting.... and made some bases.

I find myself deeply in need of yet more sci-fi bases.... and I'm tired of making them one by one... So I has builded these:

They will be molded up tomorrow after I drag myself out of bed in the afternoon.....

also, made a start on these little guys......

and now just for a giggle.... this is my mobile workspace...

since I do a lot of my painting at work, my painting gear has to be portable... this fits neatly into the one large box.... convenient.....

Happy hobbying folks....

Ninja's!!!! and a Trench-coat Ganger!

Its been raining all frickin night....... So instead of getting the Future Widow undercoated, I have been basing up a few more figures, namely 2 Pulp-City Ninja's, a Hasslefree Martial Artist, and one of Heresy's Trench-coat Gangers

The ganger got a custom techno base, I built tonight from a cut up bit of GW plastic, and GS....

nothing too fancy.... Just enough to help him match in with the rest of my "Delaque" Gang for Necromunda.

One Ninja got a minimal basing treatment.... I will add texture to the base and paint it up to look like asphalt.
I still have plans to swap his right hand weapon out for a  bow, because I wanted to base him and the other one on Stormshadow and Snake-eyes, like on this old comic:

The other guy seemed posed like he was launching himself off a vertical surface so his base got a little more custom work......

as you can see, he also got himself a sub-machine gun...

The Hasslefree model was acquired because in PC the Ninja's are taken in units of 3, and there were only two models in the pack from Pulp-monsters......

The pose of this mini immediately made me think of Danny Russo, I think in Karate kid 2 doing his Kata's balanced on top of a post...... so there she is.... miss Dannielle Russo.... lol

I realise this is almost a double post in one day..... but hey... I been a busy boy.....

As always comments are most welcome and appreciated

Freebooter's Future Widow build.

This is the prize I was lucky enough to bag in HendyBadger's Paint the City Pink charity project on his

First up, here's what ya get (except for the 30mm round base)

Now the square base insert is beautiful..... far too nice to just chuck in the "bitzbox" so I modified it up to make it fit the round base to match in with the rest of my Necromunda Escher gang......

Oh and I pin everything thats not plastic these days..... Especially since I have been collecting Malifaux, hence the arm in this pic... I am fairly certain it would have been a good fit into its socket, and didn't "need" the pin..... but its a hard habit to break......

The fnished model ended up thusly:

I haven't attached the Sword as yet.... mainly cos it will be cheaper to "buy" her into my gang if I only have to pay out for the pistol......

So there you have my latest model put together.... now I just has to paint her....

As always any comments are much appreciated

More Progress, well sort of......ish.....

Yeah.... so I finally finished building the "dry-stone" style wall sections I have been playing around with for some time.... and promptly made up a silicone mold of them so that I can cast as many as I require.

After some trimming and playing around to make the molds more usable (all three masters broke in the process of removing them from the set rubber) these are my first test casts:

as you can see...... less than a stellar success..... lots of air bubbles and even some pieces that didn't fill at all..... although the surface detail in the bits that did fill is quite good.....

second set of tests are already in, used an even more watery plaster mix, Fingers crossed!

When I used to drive a roadsweeper on construction projects i often saw something like a giant vibrator used to help concrete settle into a trench abd help the air bubble to propagate out.... so I cobbled this little tool together.....
by inserting the end of the bent paperclip into the plaster within the mold it seems to aid settling and air removal considerably.....

any comments or tips are always appreciated.....

Some actual progress!!!!

Yes thats right, I have made some actual progress!!!!

An ongoing project at the moment is a small contingent of Carcaradons Space Marines as Allies and in that vein, I have finally started work on my first test pieces for my chosen colour scheme.... first... the colour scheme was inspired by this:

these are the Mako shark concept vehicles made by Chevrolet as prototypes of the Corvette......

Now my Wip Dreadnought Weapon arms:

I am trying to mimic the fade effect off the Mako's from the almost black at the top to the virtually white at the bottom, still very much Wip at this time..... but feel free to offer any suggestions/tips.

thanks for looking, TWTs
