I'm not dead.... but I have had a slight lack of hobby time lately....

However..... I have managed to get a lil bit done over last few days.... so to re-introduce myself to the blogging community... this is my last few days progress....

first up.... the beginnings of my new Pulp city board in anticipation of the KS starting in January.. Pavements are made from 2mm foamed PVC with paving slabs and kerb stones scribed into it... the pieces that were cut out from the insides of each pavement section with provide the bases to the buildings allowing them to be socket-ed into place

on top of this, I have also made a start putting together my christmas presents.....

The Contemptor and the character conversion kit from FW, has enabled me to start gathering my planned Iron Hands army.... along with the old Techmarine I found buried in a bits box....
These 5 mark the start of a CC oriented Tactical squad for my Carcharadons.....

and finally these two are my latest additions to my Malifaux collection.... M2E so far seems like I will only like the game more....

well thats it for now.... Merry Christmas (Belatedly) and a Happy new year to you all!!!

A little something different....

Hello again, for a while now I have been picking up various miniatures with a vague idea of throwing together an Imperial Guard force for 40k, no real planning involved, just a gathering of models I liked the look of....

This is it so far.....
as you can see its a bit of a mixed bag.....

Concentrating mainly on the non GW models, because everyone has seen GW imperial guard models done a dozen different ways....

we have the beginnings of an infantry platoon...
Junior officer + squad, that's a GW catachans lieutenant, a plastic catchan with a vox, doc dorden a gaunts ghost model behind the officer, and a shadow forge missile trooper with a bolt action British commando on the heavy weapons team.

the beginnings of 2 trooper squads, a mixture of shadow forge models (with weapon swaps/mods) and GW catachan models.

Above are the 2 special weapons sections, at least the specialists, mostly GW, including a couple more ghosts, and one infinity model, and one shadow forge, no mods on any of these....

The beginnings of my veteran squad, more infinity and shadow forge amongst a pair of ghosts and a catachan...

I modded up this AT-43 troop carrier to count as a chimera transport for my stormtrooper squad, just a simple weapon swap on the turret, and the addition of a second heavy flamer for the hull mount....

Last amongst my works in progress for now... a unit of penal legion troops made from some bolt action American infantry, relatively simple weapon swaps so far, i am still 1 lasgun short, as I want the entire squad to have the one with the folded away wire stock.... and the custodian I just used a set of cadian sergeant arms.... which don't look too out of proportion.... the plan for these poor blighted souls is orange uniforms, with an explosive collar each, like in running man.... do as you are ordered or bang! no more brain case....

Finally just a couple of  comparison shots of the various different companies models to show up the slightly varying scales.....

I am using the Cadian troopers as my stormtroopers because no-one else in my army is wearing armour.... my intention is to finish this group off with a few of Chapterhouse studios Banshees, to help maintain the mixed gender feel of the force..... and who knows I might pick up or sculpt some heavier charge packs for their lasguns to re-inforce the "hotshot" image...

Well thats it for my ramblings for another post... I hope you enjoyed reading it...

More WIP pictures... because well... Work Progresses....

Yep once again I am on Nights at work this weekend... and as a consequence, more work has been achieved on the Landing Pad Mk 2

first two are of the top piece for the tower in the process of having all the panel gaps hidden with re-inforcing ribs made of card which has been scored and folded to edge the sections and bring it all together....

then that section was finally installed on the tower..
and the hiding of gaps continues onto the rest of the tower.. and will eventually happen to the whole structure...

as you can see, its all coming together, if you look at the base of the tower you can see the access door I have added...

I orinally intended to light this one up.... but I am not so sure I really want the agrovation...

On a completely seperate note, whilst tidying up my shed.... I found these fellows... A little the worse for wear, but hopefully I will get around to painting these up soon....
I find the old chap grabbing a handful of arse particularly amusing....
perhaps I am just a childish sort of person..... lol

well thanks again for taking the time to read my ramblings

more work on the Landing Pad MK II

Hello again.... Working nights clearly agrees with my hobby.... tonight I have been roughing out the top part of the tower for the Landing pad....

I will let the pictures tell the story.....

Bottom and top views of the piece I am building.... in the bottom picture you can see the supports for the outer plates...

one with a space marine for scale purposes....

added the sides.... all the gaps will be covered up presently..... Honest!

and lastly a couple of pictures of it in situ.... just to give me a feel of how it will look.....

so progress is made.... which pleases me....

thanks for stopping by, TWTs

Bjorn Again!

Hi, its been a lil while.... but I thought I would share a little side project I have been tinkering with over the last few days.....

Having found most of my old metal Bjorn Fell handed dreadnought, scattered in various bits boxes after he fell from a great height a few years ago... I decided to resurrect him.... using a second hand assault on black reach dread I picked up from my FLGS, and the plasma-uber-ludicrous-cannon off an old epic imperator class titan, and a rather nice forgeworld dreadnought base I found in another bits box (it only took 20mins with a sanding block and a chisel to get the bottom of it flat..... probably my best experience yet with FW resin products....)

so anyway here is what I have done.....

1st up is a quick shot of the plasma cannon roughly attached to the shoulder armour from the black-reach dreadnought, with  the original multi-melta for comparison purposes..... yep.. the new plasma-cannon is suitably impressive for a character of Bjorns stature....

and now just a couple of shots of the whole thing put together....

I added a piece of plastic to complete the armour on the modified arm... I will probably bow to convention and add some rivets before I paint it.... just to help it blend in..... and a little GS should sort out the purity seal...

Luckily about the only bit of my original model that was still in one piece was the lightning claws style arm... which is handy because its probably the most personal piece, with the wolf cloak and his trademark weapon.... and as you can see I managed to salvage the front plate with the use of a razor saw.. and have attached that to the BR chassis also.....

now I just want to add a few more space wolfy totems and details... then its time to try and paint over that nasty glossy green paint...

thanks for reading..... TWTs

Another one!!!

2 posts in 2 days.... I'm on a roll.......

Just a quick update really.... on my second attempt at a landing pad.... this one is big enough that my scratch built T-hawk can land on it......

anyways... progress has been made... the base of the tower and both ramps have been added......

and then I carried on and have added 4 out 6 sloped outer walls.....

The chap standing lonely in the middle is one of my wip Carcaradons lightning claw terminators, the ramps are wide enough for Landraiders and Leman Russ tanks to use them, and the tower stands 9 inches tall at present.... its due to get a top added which will add another 1 inch or so to the floor height, and then it will have crenelations so a total height of around 11-12 inches.... oh and it will also be fitted out with LED Floodlights mounted into its underside to illuminate the pad and surrounding area.... and the pad will be getting a similar arrangement of lights to its smaller cousin mounted into its surface as well....

so there you have it.... my progress for this weekend on what has turned out to be almost a table in its own right.....

let me know what you think, and hope you enjoyed the read...

I'm back..... again.....

Hello again chaps and chapettes, its been far to long... but I have been a busy boy away from hobbying..... still here are a few pics of what I have been up to lately.... just trying to get my enthusiasm back up to snuff....

first off, I have picked up the X-wing miniatures game, and while my fleet is going to be a very slow growing thing I am chuffed to say they already has their own carry case, to keep them safe in transit to games...

inside I am using yet more of my supply of cushion foam and cutting it to hold the models.....

My rebel fleet so far sat snugly in their own little spaces .... with plenty of room for more ships as I acquire them....

and then to transport the rules sheets and templates, I glued this folder into the lid, plenty of room in there for any more rules sheets I pick up.... with a thin layer of foam that fits between it and the ships to protect them.....

I also took part in the Pulp City forums mini-exchange this year, for which I painted the recently re-released June Summers, this pic was a late WIP, as I did a bit more work on the shading and then gave her a thin coat of quick-shade dip before sending her off.....

The base is a plastic 30mm round-lipped base with a custom topper I made for it....

and finally, I thought I would show off my modified Avatar for my Eldar....

Yes he is still WIP paint wise and yes he will be staying predominantly green and yellow, I was around for the original Avatar, and I still feel the wailing doom should be a spear, but I wanted it to be more of a fighting spear rather than a throwing spear, so I cut off the sword and pommel above and below the hand, then seperated the quillons from the blade, before drilling them and placing them on a piece of brass rod which goes right through the fist.... I am quite pleased with the effect of what turned out to be a fairly straight-forward mod....

As usual, I hope you enjoyed my ramblings and I hope to be subjecting you to more of them soon....

Thanks for stopping by....
